Det var uden tvivl en travl tid, is\u00e6r n\u00e5r weekenden n\u00e6rmede sig. Faktisk var der omkring 5.000 mennesker p\u00e5 stedet den morgen, p\u00e5 tv\u00e6rs af kasinoet, under underholdningen og i restaurantomr\u00e5det. En flisearbejder gennemf\u00f8rte en inspektion af restauranten og bem\u00e6rkede en lysglimt, som viste sig at v\u00e6re branden. Branden skyldtes i sidste ende en jordfejl i en v\u00e6gmonteret stikkontakt. Medarbejderne bem\u00e6rkede ogs\u00e5 omkring samme tid, at der kom r\u00f8g fra loftets ventilations\u00e5bninger. Sikkerhedspersonalet blev advaret, som derefter kontaktede brandv\u00e6snet. I l\u00f8bet af 20 minutter efter at branden f\u00f8rst blev opdaget var Clark County Fire Department p\u00e5 stedet. Dette resulterede i en enorm ildkule, der br\u00f8d igennem hovedindgangen t\u00e6t p\u00e5 det ber\u00f8mte Las Vegas Strip. Hele denne begivenhed var meget dramatisk og kostede tilsyneladende de f\u00f8rste ofre, da 18 personer blev dr\u00e6bt p\u00e5 kasinoet.<\/p>\n<p>Brandene spredte sig aldrig ud over det andet sal i kasinoet \u2013 s\u00e5 hvorfor kostede h\u00e6ndelsen s\u00e5 mange som 85 menneskeliv?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_column pos-top pos-center align_left column_child col-lg-6 single-internal-gutter\"><div class=\"uncol style-light\" ><div class=\"uncoltable\"><div class=\"uncell no-block-padding\" ><div class=\"uncont\" ><div class=\"uncode_text_column\" ><\/p>\n<div class=\"vc_custom_heading_wrap\">\n<div class=\"heading-text el-text\">\n<h3 class=\"h4 font-weight-600 text-accent-color\">Giftig atmosf\u00e6re<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"uncode_text_column\">\n<p>Det brandfarlige materiale, som jeg tidligere n\u00e6vnte, skabte, n\u00e5r det blev ant\u00e6ndt, giftige dampe og r\u00f8g. Desv\u00e6rre spredte dette sig gennem komplekset ind i hotellet nemt takket v\u00e6re vertikale kanaler som trapper og elevatorer. Denne udbredte str\u00f8m af giftig luft ville i sidste ende for\u00e5rsage flertallet af d\u00f8dsfaldene. G\u00e6sterne fors\u00f8gte at evakuere, men nogle var ikke i stand til at komme ud hurtigt nok p\u00e5 grund af, at elevatorerne ikke automatisk vendte tilbage til hovedetagen. 10 personer d\u00f8de i en af disse elevatorer. Nogle mennesker undslap endda ved at h\u00e6nge senget\u00f8j ud af deres vinduer for at n\u00e5 de lavere etager.<\/p>\n<p>Nogle mennesker, der var fanget i deres v\u00e6relser, \u00e5bnede vinduerne for at f\u00e5 frisk luft, men den tykke r\u00f8g fra udenfor samlede sig i deres v\u00e6relser, hvilket gjorde situationen v\u00e6rre. Dette f\u00f8rte til, at varmen begyndte at stige og forbindelserne til at opst\u00e5 en elektrisk str\u00f8m, hvilket ant\u00e6ndte brandet. F\u00f8rst er der mistanke om, at branden br\u00e6ndte i flere timer, indtil den blev fodret med frisk ilt og spredte sig. Moderne sk\u00e6nker har forskellige og sikrere udstyr \u2013 s\u00e5 selvom en brand alligevel stadig er mulig, er det sandsynligt, at teknologien i dag ville v\u00e6re s\u00e5dan, at en lignende h\u00e6ndelse aldrig ville ske.<br \/>\nN\u00e5r branden havde udviklet sig til at omfatte casinoomr\u00e5derne, var der ikke nok sprinklere, hvilket ikke hjalp situationen. P\u00e5 grund af reglerne p\u00e5 dav\u00e6rende tidspunkt skulle disse omr\u00e5der ikke have et sprinkleranl\u00e6g. Da de var beboede d\u00f8gnet rundt, blev det antaget, at enhver brand ville blive slukket af folk, der brugte brandslukkere \u2013 selvom denne opfattelse var modstander af det. Men mindre end 100 dage efter branden p\u00e5 MGM Grand br\u00f8d der en brand ud p\u00e5 hotellet Las Vegas Hilton, hvor 8 personer mistede livet. Disse to h\u00e6ndelser fremskyndte processen og f\u00f8rte til en omfattende reform af brandsikkerhedsretningslinjer og -koder. Der var trods alt flere mangler i evakueringsprocedurerne og i brandbes\u00e6tningens viden. Senere i 1981 blev alle offentlige bygninger i Nevada forpligtet til at have brandslukningsanl\u00e6g og r\u00f8gdetektorer i v\u00e6relser og elevatorer samt udgangsplaner i alle hotelv\u00e6relser. Det tog dog flere \u00e5r for alle komplekser af denne type at blive i overensstemmelse med kravene, da det tog tid at specificere dem.<br \/><\/span><span>Realiteten er, at selv i 2021 er en brand stadig mulig. Men sandsynligheden for, at den spreder sig, er drastisk reduceret p\u00e5 grund af en kombination af \u00f8gede sikkerhedskrav og teknologiske fremskridt. For eksempel kan midlertidige l\u00f8sninger som WES sikre en 24\/7 tidlig varsling om potentielle brande, selvom et kabelbaseret brandalarmsystem er under
